Halloween 2021

I'm  super exited that we are back to a ''normal'' life and the kids will be able to go out and enjoy the night.  This year, I created costumes that the kids can be comfortable to wear at school for the day.

First up, Free Guy this is the main character from Ryan Reynolds latest movie. We really loved the movie and this pre-teen loved video games.  I used Love Notions Cargo pants pattern and swiss army shirt from pattern niche.

Costume number 2, is a Ghostbuster jumpsuit.  I created the jumpsuit from a brand new pattern from Apostrophe patterns .  This was the bunny costume which is a customized pattern, not typical patterns based on standard sizes.  Instead, the pattern is custom-drawn based on your measurement specifications, fabric choice and sewing preferences (i.e seam allowance).  This is a very interesting new way to look at pattern.  This was available free until 31 Oct. This version was missing a little bit of ease for woven fabric.

I also included a Cricut designs.  The collar was drafted using the swiss army shirt collar.

The last costume was for my teenager, I created a Waldo outfit.  The hat was created using the Rebecca Page winter hat (size 10).  The tee is the freebie Green Tee* from Greenstyle (size D).

Happy Halloween!

Greenstyle - Lumia

Hello,

I'm super existed to show you my latest pattern testing opportunity with Greenstyle creations.  The Lumia is your own version of a perfect fitting jacket of the famous brand Lululemon.

This beautiful style hoodie has a full zip, large pockets, 3 pieces hood or collar options and sleeve cuff options.  I really like the back yoke, giving so much style to this jacket.

The pattern is unisex, I will definitely try to make a version of this pattern for the man in my life. The instructions were easy to follow and includes nice finishing details including covering the edge of the  zipper.  I used some hand stitching to ensure my top stitching the collar and bottom band.

Note from this project:

Black version :
  • Fabric from Discovery Fabric* - Polartec Power Shield lightweight
  • Lumia* Size D reduce 1 1/2''  to the body length and 1'' sleeve
  • Zipper 24'

Fuchsia version :
  • Fabric from Oiseau Fabric - French Terry medium weight
  • Lumia* Size D reduce 1' 1/2''  to the body length and sleeve
  • Zipper 24''

These were fun projects to do and will wear a lot.  I may also try to do the1/2 zipper hack version from the Greenstyle blog*.

Take care,

Nadine

5 out of 4 patterns - Michelle Fitted tee

Hello,

I continue my adventure as a Brand Ambassador with 5 out of 4 Patterns.  It is the turn of my princess to show off her new tee.  I made her a new dry fit tee, using the Michelle fitted tee*.

The tee is fitted through the bust, waist and hip, making it perfect to wear as an underlayer.  My princess is a competitive hockey player with multiple hours on the ice and off the ice training. My fabric is highly technical, with moisture -wicking abilities and the best part quick drying!

I was looking for a fitted t-shirt with a high neckline but not too high. I didn't want to interfere with her equipment.

The pattern comes with a few options:

- Regular front bodice or Full bust adjustment front bodice;
- Three sleeve lengths : Short, 3/4 or long; and
- Two hem lengths: top or tunic

The Michelle fitted tee is part of the basic collection, and perfect for beginner sewists.  The patterns requires a light to medium weight knit fabric with at least 50% stretch (2-way or 4-way).

My sewing notes :

My princess is 5'2'' with a short torso. I made one adjustment to the length which was a reduction of 1.5'' at the natural waist.

Pattern Michelle Fitted Tee* in size: XXS

Fabric: Tech jersey Mars Red from Discovery Fabrics* 88% Polyester 12% spandex 4-way stretch :65% side-to-side 35% lengthwise.  I used the same fabric for the neckband.

Happy sewing!
