George and Ginger - Walk Around Top

I love George and Ginger, the designer always come out with a new trendy style. This time we tried the new release walk around top.  It is a fun T-back design hoodie!

This is a very quick sew with bands. The hood is a nice size and a fun addition to this top. This top doesn't offer a built in bra, but you can definitely wear it over your workout clothes.

The pattern comes in a wide range of sizes and in petite sizes!

The suggested fabric for this top is a medium to heavyweight knit with at least 50% stretch, such as athletic knit or cotton lycra.  I used yoga stretch which is a fast-drying and breathable 4-way stretch. I love the color of this fabric, Surge Blue.

G&G - The Paranoid Flannel Shirt

Happy Fall everyone,

My latest project was for my teenager, I made her the paranoid flannel shirt from George and Ginger* Grunge collection.

This project took a little longer than my usual project, but I like how this turned out. George and Ginger patterns use a seam allowance of 1/4'' which doesn't scream mommy made! I made her a size 6 from a light flannel woven. She likes the oversize look.

Designer

George and Ginger

Pattern name

The Paranoid Flannel Shirt

Sizes

Tween sizes 12-14 and adult sizes 0-26

Options:

Complexity level:

In my opinion, this is an Advance Beginner level because of the buttons!

George and Ginger - The Janis top

Hello,

I did some selfish sewing, a new fun piece in my wardrobe for the fall. I have this pattern since the release in spring 2019 and finally give it a try.

George and Ginger has upgraded their sizes chart, you can find this pattern under the old school section (old size chart from tween size to adult 26).

I had selected another fabric for this project. When it was time to cut, I realized that my fabric was not wide enough (width of 125cm). Instead,  I used a fabric with a width measurement of 160cm.

This pattern has only a few pattern pieces, but it took a little while to make the gathered sleeve and ties. Next time, I will maybe use ribbon for the ties similar to the cover picture of the pattern.

Journal notes:

Fabric Bamboo Jersey knit (250 gsm - 95% bamboo rayon, 5% spandex) Huckleberry from L'Oiseau Fabric (check the resources page for a discount on your first order)

Pattern The Janis* top size 6

Overall I think it is a perfect top for a date night! I love the gathered sleeves and the slimmer waist.

take care,

Nadine

Fabric matching Challenge!

Hi everyone,

The blog has been quiet for a little while but it was not because of the lack of sewing.  I'm hoping to share more frequently when the summer is over.  Recently, I was provided with some strikes from 5 Oceans fabric and I wanted to share my happiness with my fabric matching.  This was my first time working with border fabric and I really love the end result.
