5 Oceans Fabric Round 16

Fabric! Fabric! Fabric!

I love fabric and this time around I received one yard of bamboo lycra from 5 Oceans Fabric latest preorder round 16.  This fabric is so soft, and I love the vibrant colors of this print.

A little bit of details about the patterns I selected for this special print. 

For the pajamas bottom, I selected 4'' shorts option of the Susie lounge pants from 5 out of 4 patterns. I also selected the encased elastic waistband.  I used an elastic for pajamas which are softer.

The camisole is a pattern from Rebecca Page.  I selected the flat front option and fold over elastic for the binding.  This was a very quick project to complete.  My only feedback for my next version will be to ensure I pull a little bit on the fold over elastic below the arm to get a better fit.

I modified the pattern to include a self-drafted bra. I used the pattern pieces and cut the bra pieces.

I included a 3/4'' elastic below the bust to ensure support. For the fabric, I used a cotton knit to give more structure to the bra.

The undies were another quick project with the fold-over elastic.  This is another pattern from Rebecca Page. I selected the midrise option and mid cut for the leg.  I love wearing those for sleeping!

5OO4 - Wilbur Sweatpants

 

My kids spend a lot of time in sweatpants, they don't like jeans!  I decided to try the Wilbur Sweatpants from 5 out of 4 patterns.  I like the shape of the leg, not too wide and not too skinny.  It was just perfect for my teenager skinny legs. 

The pattern features a few options:

- Short and pants

- Hemmed and cuffed or encased elastic

- Waistband drawstring

- Side seam pockets

 My version features the cuffed and side seam pockets. I see more of those in the future!

Skill Level: Beginner

Designed for Knit fabric with minimal stretch I used a French Terry with 80% cotton, 20% poly (310gsm) from 5 Oceans Fabric

Five Oceans Fabric Round 13 Part 2 - Sofiona Designs

 

I adventured to try a new pattern company from northern Canada.  Sofiona Designs specialized in girls and miss patterns.  I love their commitment to donate a portion of all their sales to A21. From their newsletter: 

A21 is a non-profit organization that exists to free people from slavery and educate others in efforts to disrupt the demand for modern day slaves around the world.  

I tried the Miss bonefire hoodie  which is designed with a relaxed fit and separate front panel piece.  The front panel piece comes in cup sizes (A-D).   Another interesting feature is the slight hi-lo hemline. 

Multiple options are available :

Hood or simple neckband

Solid sleeve cuffs or thumb hole

Optional front pocket

I made a few modifications, including reduce the length by 1.5 inch and the sleeve by the same amount.

A little bit about the fabric, I love the bamboo spandex French terry! It's light but not slippery and has a great body.  

The Mario Odyssey is a preorder available until 14 feb. The fabric details are 95% bamboo fiber 5% spandex with a 280-300gsm weight.

The beige is currently in stock ''Sew you wild oat'' bamboo/cotton French terry. The fabric details are 66% rayon from bamboo, 28% cotton and 6% spandex.  This one is Oeko Tex 100 certified.

Five Oceans Fabric Round 13 Part 1- Love Notions

 

I received some custom print from Five Oceans fabric latest preorder.  The theme for round 13 is Mario!  The Switch is quite busy in our family, making this round quite exiting!

   

  J'ai reçu un métre de la nouvelle prévente de Five Oceans fabric qui a pour thème Mario.  Les enfants adorent Luigi Mansion, nous avons toujours pas terminé le jeu par contre!

The fabric base is a Cotton Spandex French Terry (280-300 gsm, 95% cotton 5% spandex). The name of the print is Ghosties! Any fan of Lugi Mansion?  The colors of this print are amazing.  

    La base du tissu est en cotton français, mélange cotton et spandex.  Les couleurs de ce tissu sont magnifiques et vibrantes.

For this project I used the Love Notions Vanguard kit.  I did the pants a few times and decided to try the top.  It has a few fun options.

    Pour ce projet, j'ai utilié le patron de Love Notions - Vanguard.  J'avais fait le pantalon quelques fois mais jamais le chandail.  Le patron rencontrait toutes les demandes de mon grand! 

I modified the sleeve a little I used version B but connect the bottom two pieces.

No other modification, I used a straight size 10.

    J'ai modifié les manches quelque peu. J'ai fait un deux pièces au lien de 3. Autrement pas de modification à la gradeur 10.

5 Oceans Fabric - Round 11

Hi everyone,

We are currently in a heat wave in my corner of the worlds and I've been enjoying wearing my latest creations with the latest preorder from 5 Oceans Fabric- R11.

My first project I completed was the Bianca pullover from Greenstyle*.  This was my second attempt at the Bianca.  At my first attempt, I found the pullover too big for me. It was very boxy and oversized but my teenager though it was very trendy!  So I decided to give it another try. The fabric choice really made the difference.

Project number 2 was a second attempt as well from a fail first attempt!  The Elevate is one of my favorite sport top pattern. I tried the overlay with a very light weight fabric and I found the back to drape too much and showing too much skin!  My lesson learned on this one was to try to add an elastic to help with the edge of the back piece.  For the version below, I used two front pieces and I like that a lot.

For my last project, I used one of the latest release from 5 out of 4 patterns*.  The Maria tank and dress has a cute twist cross in the back.  I used the next size up to create more drape (less fitted look) for my beach cover (more going on a boat ride than beach!).

I'm very happy with the Bamboo Spandex French Terry, it is very soft and lots of drape!  The Round 11 is open until Aug 32 2021. If you are a Schitt's Creek fan you may want to have a look!

Fabric matching Challenge!

 

Hi everyone,

The blog has been quiet for a little while but it was not because of the lack of sewing.  I'm hoping to share more frequently when the summer is over.  Recently, I was provided with some strikes from 5 Oceans fabric and I wanted to share my happiness with my fabric matching.  This was my first time working with border fabric and I really love the end result.
