Handmade Holiday Tour

Hello,  

I love this time of the year.  Holiday music, baking, hot chocolate and marshmallows, and best of all watching “Home Alone” with the kids. The kids always laugh at the robbers when they try to get into the house (burning handle, iced front steps, tool box coming down the stairs…).  I love holiday traditions and I thought for this Love Notions Holiday Handmade blog tour I would share with you one of my family holiday handmade traditions.

This tradition started when my princess was a baby.  I was shopping at my local fabric store and saw a cute Angel print and decided to make her a new holiday pajama to wear on Christmas morning. Not only was it fun but made for great photos in the morning.  This was the beginning of a 10 year holiday tradition of kids matching pajamas for Christmas morning.

Usually, I select a new style for my Christmas morning pjs.  This year, I selected two Love Notions patterns:  Prisma Dress & Moto Maxx .  The Moto Maxx pj version is not new in our house, I have made a few of them using that pattern but they are now all too small for my middle child.

First up is the Prisma dress* , I made no modifications to the pattern.  I selected the scoop version, ¾ sleeve length and went up one size.  I was looking for a more loose style to ensure sleeping comfort.  If you have a closer look at the picture you can see another family holiday tradition.  My husband and I are having quite some fun with that guy.  As you can see, he gets in trouble almost every night!

Secondly, I made the Moto Maxx for the boys pjs.  No modification to the pattern. I skipped the pockets making it a quick sew!  I usually make the short sleeve version but I received a special request from this guy.

My princess’ AG doll also get her own version of this year Christmas pjs.  I used the latest pattern Doll LDT that was released during this Handmade Holiday Tour.

In conclusion, I wanted to share with you a new Holiday Tradition.  In November, I tested an advent calendar for Rebecca Page. I had so much fun with the kids creating each ornaments.  You can get your free pattern here* (for a limited time).  Go grab it and create your own Holiday tradition.

Love Notions - Prisma Dress

Last month, I had the opportunity to test the latest girls' pattern from Love Notions (affiliate link).  The Prisma dress is so cute and simple.  I probably made the easiest version of the pattern.  I would define it as a comfy and fun dress.  I really like the simplicity of the design and see so many possibilities (T-shirt, sleep gown, cover swim dress, etc).

If my princess would not have a closet full of handmade clothes, I would definitely have made a few more. Maybe I will, I would love to try a panel with this dress.  I have my eyes on this one from L’Oiseau Fabric.  The fit was perfect for her from the get go! 

You could also make a dressier version by using the skirt options available (i.e. Boat neck with pleated skirt).

My princess is getting older, but she still love wearing her dresses.  I bet this one will get a lot of use.

The fabric came from L’Oiseau Fabric; unfortunately it is no longer available. I had ordered that fabric for the boys but I thought it would be a great choice for this project.

Au cours des dernières semaines, j'ai eu la chance de tester le dernier patron de Love Notions (lien affilié).  La robe Prisma est simple et facile à faire. J'ai probablement fait la version la plus facile et en moins de 90 minutes.  J'aime vraiment la simplicité de cette robe. Il y a tellement de possibilités de projets avec un patron comme celui-ci ( chandail, robe de nuit, robe de plage en ratine...).

C'est malheureux que ma princesse a une garde-robe qui déborde de vêtement fait maison. Parce que je m'aurai surement lancer dans la fabrication en série de ce modèle de robe.  J'aimerai faire l'essai des nouveaux panneaux et je crois que cette robe serait parfaite.  Peut-être lors de ma prochaine commande !

La robe était parfaite dès le début, le seule ajustement fut la longueur de la robe.   Le patron inclus des options pour obtenir un look un peu plus classique avec l'encolure bateau et taille basse.

Même si ma princesse est une pré-adolescente, je suis sure que cette robe ne restera pas trop longtemps dans la garde-robe. 

Maintenant le tissus, j'avais commandé ce tissu pour les garçons mais je crois que c'était le choix parfait pour ce projet.  Le tissus provient de L'Oiseau Fabrics.

Je travaille présentement sur plusieurs autres publications, incluant un projet pour les garçons.  En terminant, laissez-moi savoir ce que vous pensez des nouveaux tableaux.
