Last Call 2017!

Hello,
2017 was another amazing year and I'm looking forward to 2018.  There are a few sewing projects mainly from testing that I really love but did not share with you on this blog.  On this last day of 2017, I wanted to present you a few of them.

Nous avons eu une merveilleuse année 2017.  Il y plusieurs projets de couture que j'ai complétés, surtout lors des périodes de test qui n'ont pas été présenté sur ce blog.  En cette dernière journée de 2017, je voulais vous présenter ceux avec lesquels je suis vraiment satisfaite du résultat.

The Fabric Geeks - Through the Stones

Over the last month,  I worked on a few new items for my growing boy. This skinny guy was the reason behind my return to sewing on a regular basis. His closet is filled with mommy made clothes.

I started my back to school sewing with some strike off fabric from the current pre-order at The Fabric Geeks ''Through the Stones''.  I was sent the Inverness Plaid which is a 95% cotton and  5% lycra knit.  This is 4 way stretch with a very good weight (250-270 gsm).  This Inverness Plaid is also available in French Terry.

A little bit about the pattern, I used the Titchy Threads Safari raglan.  I truly love the fit of this pattern, I went one size bigger for this shirt because I wanted him to wear it more than only a few months. I used this pattern for the boys but also for my princess. Last Christmas, I even used it as a pyjama top.

I had a little bit of left over fabric so I decided to use it for another long sleeve tee.  The pattern is also from Titchy Threads, Hawthorn. This pattern was my first pattern I tested over three years ago. My youngest still wears it.  I love this pattern a lot, with all the little details that make this look so perfect.

The applique is from Planet Applique. It has been a long time I had used my embroidery machine. I love adding some personalisation to my creations.

The pre-order is open from Aug 28 to Sept 14.  There is also solid matching colour and panels available. This little guy has no clue about the theme associated with the fabric, but he loves the Celtic style and the fact that it is green.

Mon grand garçon, qui est en pleine croissance, avait besoin de nouveaux vêtements pour la rentrée des classes.  Ce garçon maigrichon est la principale raison de mon retour à la couture.
 
J’ai débuté ma collection de la rentrée des classes avec le tissu de la dernière précommande ‘Through the Stones’ chez The Fabric Geeks. La propriétaire m’a envoyé le plaid Iverness pour en faire l'essai.  Ce tissue à motifs de carreaux écossais est un tricot (95% cotton et 5% lycra avec poids de 250-270 gsm).  Ce plaid est aussi disponible en cotton français. 
 
Pour le patron, j’ai choisi le Safari raglan de Titchy Threads un de mes préférés.  J’ai coupé une grandeur plus grande, en espérant qu’il va le porter une bonne partie de l’hiver.  J’ai utilisé ce patron autant pour ma fille que pour les garçons.  J’ai même fait des hauts de pyjamas avec ce patron.
 
Avec les restants de tissu du Iverness,  j’ai fait un autre chandail à manches longues de la collection de Titchy Threads.  Le Hawthorn fut le premier patron que j’ai testé; il y a déjà plus de 3 ans.

Ce patron est surprenant avec plusieurs détails de construction. J'adore le col, la fermeture éclaire est complètement caché. Une très belle finition.  

J'ai ajouté un petit brin de personnalité avec un appliqué sur le devant en utilisant une machine à coudre de broderie.  Ce dessin provient de Planet Applique, ma boutique préférée pour dessin d'enfants.

Disney part 2

Il y a déjà quelques semaines, lors de ma première publication de cette série,  que j’ai parlé de mon obsession avec les patrons de Titchy Threads.  Pour continuer la série Disney, quoi de mieux que de vous montrer ma version fille du Safari raglan de Titchy Threads. 

 

It has been already a few weeks since my first post for the Disney series, I introduced you to my favourite pattern from Titchy Threads.  I would like to continue with my girl version of the Safari raglan.

Le tissu tricot de Mickey provient de Funky Monkey et le tricot noir provient de L’oiseau fabrics. 

 

The Mickey fabric has been ordered from Funky Monkey and the accent black knit was from L’oiseau fabrics.

Je profite de l’occasion pour vous présenter une autre désigner Canadienne, Jess de Gracious Threads (lien affilié).  J’ai fait une petite adaptation à son populaire patron Lazy days lounge pants.  Ce n’était pas la première fois que j’utilisais ce patron.  Au cours de l’hiver j’ai fait des version polar de ce patron.  Il était donc facile d’adapter le patron pour une version capri.  J’ai aussi modifié la grandeur de la bande de cheville pour l’ajustement des mollets musclés de ma princesse !   Ce pantalon capri a été réalisé avec du cotton français bambou de C&M textile, vous pouvez trouver ce type de tissu chez L’oiseau fabrics aussi. Je dois avouer que je suis vraiment jalouse de ce pantalon.  J’adore la texture du bambou et les propriétés de ce tissu.  Malheureusement, j’aurai probablement pas le temps de faire un pantalon semblable pour moi avant notre départ.

I’m also taking this occasion to introduce you to another Canadian designer,  Jess from Gracious Threads (affiliate link).  I made a small modification to her very popular pattern Lazy days lounge pants.  I used this pattern a few times already with polar. For this version, I shortened the pant length to make a capri style and modified the size of the ankle band for a muscled calves!  For this capri pants I used bamboo French Terry from C&M Textile, but you can find similar product at l’oiseau fabric and other online fabric stores.   I have to say, I’m jealous of my princess.  I would love to have a pair like this.  The fabric is so soft and it looks so comfy. I don’t think I will have time to make some for myself before our departure.

Finalement, je vous présente une robe de la collection de Sofilantjes (lien affilié). J’ai acheté le patron Nivalis (lien affilié) lors de sa sortie, il y a déjà quelques semaines avec cette idée en tête.  J’avais déjà le tissu, il me manquait le parfait patron!  Le tissu des sept nains provient de Funky Monkey et le lilas de Fabricland.

Finally, I would like to show you the Nivalis (affiliate link) dress from the Sofilantjes (affiliate link) collections.  I had bought this pattern when it came out with that idea in mind. I had already the fabric and this dress seems to be a perfect match for my vision. The seven dwarfs fabric was ordered from Funky Monkey and the light purple is from my local Fabricland.

La seule modification au patron fut l’ajout de cordonnet au tour de la poitrine pour ajouter un peu de style! 

 

The only modification I made was related to the addition of the pipping on the front and back of the curve.

 

J’ai pris un peu de retard dans ma confection de vêtement pour notre voyage à Disney. J’ai deux autres projets de complétés pour les garçons que je vais vous présenter prochainement.

 

I’m falling a little behind in my Disney projects, but I’m already working on my next post with two boys projects already completed.

On part en vacance ! - We are going on vacation!

Nous allons à Walt Disney World dans quelques semaines et j’ai commencé à faire des vêtements pour les enfants. J’ai une liste pleine d’idées pour s’amuser durant notre voyage.  Ce sera notre premier voyage à Disney avec les enfants.

We are going to Walt Disney World in a few weeks and I started to work on the kids outfits.  I have a huge list of ideas to get the kids (and me) excited about the trip.  This will be our first family Disney trip.

Je vais commencer cette série de publications avec deux chandails pour mes Trésors.  Je ne pouvais pas passé à côté de Mickey Mouse comme premier choix étant donné qu'il est l'une des principales vedettes du Monde de Disney.

I will start this series of posts with two t-shirts for my Treasures.  Mickey Mouse was the most obvious place to start as one of the most renown Disney characters.

Pour ce premier chandail,  j’ai utilisé le patron Rowan de Titchy Threads.  Titchy Threads offre une selection de patron pour garçons et filles. 

Le tissu provient de Funky Monkey Fabrics.

For the first T-shirt I used the Rowan pattern from Titchy Threads.  Titchy Threads offers a selection of patterns for boys and girls.  I ordered the fabric from Funky Monkey Fabrics.

Le deuxième est un autre patron de Titchy Threads, Safari Raglan.  Ce dernier est un de mes patrons préférés, je suis maintenant à ma 7^ième version ! J’ai utilisé le même tissu que le premier chandail. Il me reste encore un peu de tissu pour faire quelque chose pour moi, si le temps me le permet.

The second version is using my favorite pattern from Titchy Threads, Safari Raglan.  I have a little obsession with this one, so far, I made it 7 times!  I have used the same fabric in this version as the first t-shirt.  I have a little bit left over, I’m hoping to make something for me if I have time.

Je me demande combien de projets je peux compléter avant notre départ.  

I’m wondering how many I will be able to complete before the trip.
