The Fabric Geeks - The Mix #1 (part 2)

So it turned out to be a busy January, this is part 2 of The Mix #1.  

I have three more prints to show you from the current preorder from The Fabric Geek.

I am a huge fan of the following pattern, the Rowan Tee from Titchy Threads.  I used the ''Math Nerd'' as the main fabric for this Tee and the ''Monochrome Doodle'' for the shoulder accents.

Ma machine à coudre à été très occupé en janvier. Voici la deuxième partie de la collection ''The Mix #1'' de la précommande de The Fabric Geeks.

J'ai commencé avec un de mes patrons préférés, le Rowan Tee de Titchy Threads avec le tissu ''Math Nerd'' avec le ''Monochrome Doodle'' sur les manches.

This little guy has been growing so he got lucky, I got good results with the Explorer Raglan from MBJM, so I decided to try another pattern from her collection. So I tried the Cottesloe Cowl. I used the same size than the Explorer Raglan but it turned a little big on my model. I love the colors of the ''Extinction'' fabric and the little round pockets.

Mon grand garçon grandit rapidement alors il a eu droit à un autre chandail.  J'ai obtenu un bon résultat avec le premier patron que j'ai essayé de MBJM  alors j'en ai essayé un autre. Cette fois-ci j'ai fait l'essai du Cottesloe cowl. Le chandail est un peu grand pour lui, pourtant j'ai utilisé la même grandeur que l'explorer raglan.  C'est quand même une belle réussite, j'adore les couleurs du tissu et les petites poches rondes.

The last print I had the chance to try-out is the ''Sweet things''.  I thought it would be fun to use that print on some gym clothing. So I used the Agility Tank from 5 out of 4 patterns* and the girls stride from Greenstyle Creations*.

Pour le dernier tissu, je me suis amusé avec le thème.  Des sucreries pour une ensemble de gym.  J'ai utilisé le patron Agility Tank de 5 out of 4 patterns* et girls stride de Greenstyle Creations*. 

In addition to the strike off from The Fabric Geeks, I tested the revised version of the Love Notions* Trendy Tunic.  I used the ''Sweet things'' for the details of the tunic.

En terminant, j'ai testé la version révisée du patron Trendy Tunic de Love Notions*. Le ''Sweet things'' était parfait pour ce projet.

The Fabric Geeks - Nautical Dream pre-order

Hello,

I’m lucky enough to continue my adventure with The Fabric Geeks. I’m so happy to sew up projects just for fun. I only need to pick a pattern I love.

This time, I had the chance to try out the new solid collection the yarn dyed stripes and the new pre-order ‘’Nautical Dream’’.

First up, is the yarn dyed stripes pink and charcoal grey. This Cotton/Lycra fabric is not as heavy than the regular solid collection (190gsm vs 230gsm) but still a very good quality and so perfect for this top.

I selected the Sew Straight and Gather - Girls Legends top to feature this fabric. I tested this pattern over a year ago (see here) and it was time to make another one. I’m intensely jealous and dying to make my own!

My princess is so stylish in this stand collar top. It only took me a couple hours to complete this top from printing to finish. I highly recommend this pattern.

Secondly, the ‘’Nautical Dream’’ pre-order.   I really like the colors of this collection, specially the stripes (not feature in this post)! My latest outfit with The Fabric Geeks received a lot of love from my princess, so I decided to use the same pattern for this top.  I used the Agility Tank* with the overlay from 5 out of 4 patterns. 

I completed the outfit with the Greenstyle Creations Stride Athletic Tight.

Un beau bonjour,

J'ai la chance de continuer mon aventure avec The Fabric Geeks.  J'adore coudre des projects pour m'amuser.  J'ai seulement besoin de choisir un patron que j'aime.

Cette fois-ci, j'ai fait l'essai de la nouvelle collection de "yard dyed stripes" et ''Anchor'' présentement en prévente.

Tout d'abord, le tissu rayé rose et gris est un cotton/lycra.  Il pèse un peu moins que la collection de couleur uni (190gsm vs 230gsm).  C'est quand même de très bonne qualité et parfait pour un chandail d'été.

J'ai choisi un patron de Sew Straight and Gather - Girls Legends pour ce tissu. J'ai testé ce patron il y a déjà plus d'un an (voir ici) et nous l'adorons toujours.  A vrai dire, je suis complètement jalouse et j'en veux un pour moi aussi!

J'adore le style de col.  J'ai complété le projet en quelques heures.  Je recommande fortement ce patron.

Pour poursuivre, la collection en prévente ‘’Nautical Dream’’.   J'adore les couleurs de cette collection, cela fait tellement été.  

J'ai utilisé l'Agility Tank* de 5 out of 4 pattern pour ce chandail.  Une autre belle réussite. J'ai complété l'ensemble avec Greenstyle Creations Stride Athletic Tight.

Filles à Maman - Souris & Caramel

Hello,
Today is very special, I have two patterns to show you and lot of pictures!

Souris Tunic & straight legging

I had the opportunity in the past to test for Les Filles à Maman (see here).  I completed the testing a few weeks ago and I have to say that the outfit has been coming back in the laundry on a regular basis. Definitely a huge hit with my princess.   

Both patterns have been designed for stretch fabrics with at least 30 -50%.  This is important for the Caramel legging. I tried with French Terry (stretch of 25%) and the results were not as good.  I may try again but I will do the next size up.

Souris* is a modern top or tunic with a box pleat on the side and large hem band. Stripe fabric is the optimal style for this pattern.  You get diagonal design at the back.  So cool!

Caramel* is a modern style legging, I made the straight line style.  I do have a few more ideas for this one, including using handmade stretch piping. 

I would like to try the curvy version and I’m also planning to make an active wear legging when I have a chance. My princess is wearing active wear on a daily basis with her 5-6 ice times a week.   You may see more of the Caramel legging!

aujourd'hui je vous présente deux nouveaux patrons de la collection Blanc de Les Filles à Maman (FAM). 


J'ai eu l'opportunité au cours des derniers mois de tester quelques patrons pour les FAM (voir ici !).  Ce que je vous présente aujourd'hui, a déjà fait plusieurs tours dans le panier à lavage.  Je considère donc cela comme une belle réusite !

Les deux patrons sont dessinés pour un tissue tricot avec une élasticité de 30-50%.  Ceci est important, puisque j'ai fait l'essai avec un terry français avec 25% d'élasticité et je n'ai pas obtenu un bon résultat.  

Le chandail Souris est un style modern avec un plis sous la manche et une bande aux hanches.  Si vous aimez les tissues rayés, ce patron est parfait pour l'obtention d'un beau design au dos.

Le pantalon Caramel* est un "legging" avec un petit quelque chose.   Ma version représente la version avec lignes droites.  J'ai l'intention de faire les autres options (au genou et ligne courbée).  Je veux aussi essayé de faire une version athlétique.  Tellement de possibilities !

Filles à Maman - One Romper

Good day everyone,

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to test the latest pattern from Les Filles à Maman “One Romper”.   It was not my first time testing for Melanie.  I tested her Petit Oiseau shirt and Jolie skirt (affiliate links). I was very excited this time to do something for my big boy. 

The One Romper is available in sizes 1 to 14 and features short sleeves.  The long sleeves option will be available for free on the FAM website shortly.

Main features are:

·         Long or short legs;

·         Round or V-neck;

·         Shoulder closer; and,

·         Patch and in-seam side pocket.

My version of the long legs and round neck is featuring L’Oiseau Fabric Monsters Attack.

During testing, I have completed a short leg version. Both versions are in high rotation in my son’s PJ drawer!  The choice of fabric will really impact the style of this Romper.  I could see younger kids wearing this romper all day! 

The pattern also come with a T-shirt pattern with or without shoulder closer.  I made one for my daughter with the V-Neck option.   I love when a pattern can be used for both girls and boys.

This pattern is currently only available through the One Thimble magazine issue 13 or individuel pattern at FAM ou One Thimble here. It should be available on the FAM website after the exclusivity agreement. 

 

The One Thimble (affiliate link) magazine is a digital sewing magazine (PDF document) made by sewing enthusiasts for sewing enthusiasts! The issue 13 features 10 PDF patterns and articles/tutorial/interviews.   I saw some sneak peeks of the patterns and I’m looking forward to try a few of the patterns in this latest issue.  I’m very interested by the Sofilantjes Orbis Skinny Harem pants and the Boo! Designs Ultimate Suit.   I’m also very curious about a few of the tutorials “Tips for putting in & removing snaps” and “Sewing with knit & leather”.  I have leather that I want to use for a handbag when I get to it on the to-do list!

Il y a quelques semaines, j'ai eu la chance de tester le dernier patron des Filles à Maman "One Romper". Ce n'était pas la première fois que je testais pour Mélanie. Je suis très heureuse de vous montrer un projet pour mon grand garçon.

Le One Romper est disponible dans les tailles 1 à 14 et est offert avec des manches courtes. L'option manches longues sera disponible gratuitement sur le site de la FAM (lien affilié) sous peu.

Les principales caractéristiques sont:
· Jambes longues ou courtes;
· Col rond ou en V;
· Patte à l'épaule ; et
- Poches.

Cette version met en vedette du tissu de L'Oiseau Fabric.


Au cours des tests, j'ai fait une version de pantalon court. Les deux versions ne passent pas beaucoup de temps dans le tiroir de pyjamas de mon fils! Le choix du tissu aura vraiment un impact sur le style de ce romper. Je peux voir les enfants plus jeunes porter ce romper toute la journée!


Le patron inclus un T-shirt sans la patte à l'épaule. J'ai fait un essai pour ma fille avec l'option V-Neck. J'aime quand un patron peut être utilisé pour les filles et les garçons.

Ce patron est actuellement disponible uniquement dans le numéro du magazine One Thimble 13  (lien affilié) ou ou en vente individuel ici. Il devrait être disponible sur le site Web de  FAM après la période d'exclusivité.

Le magazine One Thimble (lien affilié) est un magazine de couture numérique (document PDF) réalisé par des amateurs de couture pour les amateurs de couture! La revue #13 comprend 10 patrons PDF et articles / tutoriel / entrevues. J'ai vu plusieurs photos des patrons inclus et je suis impatiente d'essayer quelques-uns des patrons dans ce dernier numéro. Je suis très intéressé par les pantalons harem de Sofilantjes  et le costume de bain de Boo! Dessins.

Sew Straight and Gather - Café Romper

Today, I have the latest pattern from Sew Straight and Gather – Café.

 

Please note this pattern is an intermediate level pattern and requires a little bit more time to complete.  It took me probably a little bit over 5 hours from printing the pattern to fit pictures. 

This pattern is full of design options:

· Romper pants, shorts or skirt;

· Short sleeves or sleeveless; and

· Optional blind tuck couture detail on the yoke.

I tested the romper skirt with the sleeveless option.  My princess is looking so stylish in this classic style. She already mentioned that she will wear this outfit at school.  I think it means that it is a big hit!

In addition to the design options, you have the following details:

· pockets;

· fabric belt and belt loops; and

· snap or button hidden placket.

Sew Straight and Gather instructions are very detailed with clickable page navigation and URL links to outside resources.  I`m always impressed by the level of detail of Sew Straight and Gather patterns.  Terri spent more than 3 months on perfecting this pattern.

In case you wonder, I have already asked for an adult version of this pattern.   I really need this pattern for myself!

Aujourd'hui, j’ai le dernier patron de Sew Straight and Gather – Café.   

Veuillez noter que ce patron est de niveau intermédiaire et nécessite un peu plus de temps pour voir les résultats. Ce test ma prit un peu plus de 5 heures de travail (de l’impression du patron au résultat final).

 

Le Café comporte plusieurs options :

-          salopette pantalon, short et jupe

-          manches courtes ou sans manche; et

-          détails de faux-pli sur l’empiècement du devant.

 

J’ai testé la jupe salopette avec l’option sans manches.  J’aime ce style classique et je crois que c’est une belle réussite.

 

En plus des options identifiées ci-haut, vous pouvez aussi ajouter les détails suivants :

-          poches ;

-          ceinture et boucles de ceinture en tissu ; et

-          patte de boutonnage cachée pour boutons ou boutons pression.

 

Les instructions sont très détaillées avec navigation dans le document et liens aux ressources externes. Je suis toujours impressionné par le niveau de détails de ses patrons.  Terri a passé plus de 3 mois sur le perfectionnement de ce patron.

En passant, j’ai déjà fait une demande pour une version adulte!

Blaverry - Vivie

I have been quiet lately but it is not because I was taking the summer off. I have been quiet busy sewing and enjoying cottage time.

Today, I’m back with another creation from the Blaverry collection.  Before I start with the featured pattern today I would like to welcome everyone that is following the Vivie blog tour.  

The Vivie is a shirt style dress with a front button placket.  The Vivie is the latest pattern from Blaverry that underwent a full update.  

The Vivie feature bodice darts at the waist, back and front, and invisible side seam pockets.  You can also go wild with a contrast color for the collar and buttons placket.  For my blog tour version of the dress I went with a more sophisticated style and used a subtle design on the fabric.

Vivie update included:

·         The addition of 3 sleeve lengths;

·         Clickable table of contents;

·         More size and garment finished measurements;

·         Instructions on how to properly select your size(s);

·         Instruction on how to blend sizes;

·         Printable page to record measurements and notes;

·         Printable design/coloring page for you and/or your kids; and

·         Re-designed pattern pieces for easier size blending.

I have to say that my favorite update to the pattern is the new sleeve option.  You can get a completely different style just by adding the sleeve.  For this promo version I used the short sleeve option.

Il y a déjà quelques semaines que je n’ai pas publié sur le blog, ce n’est pas parce que j’ai pris des vacances !  C’est plutôt parce que j’avais trop de projets de couture et je voulais profiter un peu de l’été.

Aujourd'hui, je suis de retour avec une autre création de la collection Blaverry. Avant de commencer avec la présentation du patron, j’aimerai souhaiter la bienvenue à tout le monde qui suit la tournée de blogs pour le lancement du patron Vivie.

Le patron Vivie est une robe de style chemise avec une patte de boutonnage avant.  Le Vivie est le dernier modèle de Blaverry qui a subi une mise à jour complète.

Le nouveau patron inclus :

·         Trois options de grandeur de manches ;

·         Une charte des grandeurs et des mesures finies du vêtement ;

·         Des astuces pour mélanger les tailles avec succès ;

·         Une feuille imprimable pour prendre des notes de coutures et noter les mesures de votre modèle ;

·         Une page à colorier à imprimé ;

·         Les différentes tailles positionnées pour faciliter la gradation entre les tailles

Le patron est désigné avec des pinces à la taille, avant et arrière, et des poches invisibles sur les côtés. Vous pouvez aussi vous amuser avec une couleur contrastante pour le col et patte de boutonnage. Pour ma version de la tournée des blogs, j’ai choisi un style plus sophistiqué et utilisé un design subtil sur le tissu. En passant, le tissu provient du Club tissu Québec. 

 
 
Je dois dire que ce que je préfère est la nouvelle option de manche. Vous pouvez obtenir un style complètement différent par simplement l’ajout de la manche. Pour cette version promo, j'ai utilisé l'option à manches courtes.
