2018 has been an amazing year filled with sewing projects.  Only a few made it to the blog, but I would like to look back at some of them.

The Fabric Geeks - The Mix #1 (part 2)

So it turned out to be a busy January, this is part 2 of The Mix #1.  

I have three more prints to show you from the current preorder from The Fabric Geek.

I am a huge fan of the following pattern, the Rowan Tee from Titchy Threads.  I used the ''Math Nerd'' as the main fabric for this Tee and the ''Monochrome Doodle'' for the shoulder accents.

Ma machine à coudre à été très occupé en janvier. Voici la deuxième partie de la collection ''The Mix #1'' de la précommande de The Fabric Geeks.

J'ai commencé avec un de mes patrons préférés, le Rowan Tee de Titchy Threads avec le tissu ''Math Nerd'' avec le ''Monochrome Doodle'' sur les manches.

This little guy has been growing so he got lucky, I got good results with the Explorer Raglan from MBJM, so I decided to try another pattern from her collection. So I tried the Cottesloe Cowl. I used the same size than the Explorer Raglan but it turned a little big on my model. I love the colors of the ''Extinction'' fabric and the little round pockets.

Mon grand garçon grandit rapidement alors il a eu droit à un autre chandail.  J'ai obtenu un bon résultat avec le premier patron que j'ai essayé de MBJM  alors j'en ai essayé un autre. Cette fois-ci j'ai fait l'essai du Cottesloe cowl. Le chandail est un peu grand pour lui, pourtant j'ai utilisé la même grandeur que l'explorer raglan.  C'est quand même une belle réussite, j'adore les couleurs du tissu et les petites poches rondes.

The last print I had the chance to try-out is the ''Sweet things''.  I thought it would be fun to use that print on some gym clothing. So I used the Agility Tank from 5 out of 4 patterns* and the girls stride from Greenstyle Creations*.

Pour le dernier tissu, je me suis amusé avec le thème.  Des sucreries pour une ensemble de gym.  J'ai utilisé le patron Agility Tank de 5 out of 4 patterns* et girls stride de Greenstyle Creations*. 

In addition to the strike off from The Fabric Geeks, I tested the revised version of the Love Notions* Trendy Tunic.  I used the ''Sweet things'' for the details of the tunic.

En terminant, j'ai testé la version révisée du patron Trendy Tunic de Love Notions*. Le ''Sweet things'' était parfait pour ce projet.

Thank you The Fabric Geeks I had a great time again with the strike off prints. You can see part 1 here.

The Fabric Geeks - The Mix #1 (part 1)

I am so excited to share with you some of my creations from the month of January.   The Fabric Geeks send me a bunch of new strike off of the new preorder "The Mix #1". This one has no specific theme but full of print for everyone.

In case your are new to The Fabric Geeks, their fabrics are digitally printed cotton lycra fabric with a weight ranging from 250-270 gsm.

First up is one of my favourite, the "Namaste".  This one is a fun print for all the yoga lovers. 

Je suis très contente de vous présenter mes projets du mois de janvier.  J'ai testé quelques tissus de la nouvelle précommande. Cette dernière, ''The Mix #1'' inclus un peu de tout pour tous.  

Je débute avec mon tissu préféré de la collection, le ''Namaste''. Ce tissu est parfait pour tous ceux qui aime le Yoga.

For this print, I used the Agility tank* from 5 out of 4 patterns. This was not my first time using this pattern and it is becoming a fun summer staple in our house.   I really like the overlay style of this tank.  I used fold over elastic for the binding.

J'ai choisi un patron que j'ai découvert l'été dernier. L'Agility tank* de 5 out of 4 patterns était parfait pour ce tissu.



For the second print, I tried a new designer Made By Jack's Mum (MBJM). 

En deuxième temps, j'ai choisi de faire l'essai d'un nouveau patron de la collection Made By Jack's Mum.

 



I selected the Explorer Raglan T-Shirt to feature the graffiti & monochrome doodles print from the current preoder.  The graffiti is a fun print and great discussion with the younger generation. Mom, what is a Boombox?  What are the cassettes for?

C'était la première fois que je travaillais avec l'Explorer Raglan. Je crois que c'était un bon choix pour mettre en valeur le  ''Graffiti'' & ''Monochrome''. Le Graffiti est un retour en arrière avec les cassettes et la radio.  Maman, c'est quoi une cassette?

This pattern comes with multiple options: 

• 4 sleeve lengths (long, three quarter, short and retro rolled);
• straight hem and low backed curved hem;
• colour blocking; and
• snap close neckline (perfect for the smaller sizes).

Le patron inclus plusieurs options:

• 4 grandeurs de manche;
• ourlet droit ou courbé à l'arrière; 
• blockage de couleur; et
• fermeture à l'encolure (parfait pour les plus jeunes).

The Fabric Geeks - Nautical Dream pre-order

Hello,

I’m lucky enough to continue my adventure with The Fabric Geeks. I’m so happy to sew up projects just for fun. I only need to pick a pattern I love.

This time, I had the chance to try out the new solid collection the yarn dyed stripes and the new pre-order ‘’Nautical Dream’’.

First up, is the yarn dyed stripes pink and charcoal grey. This Cotton/Lycra fabric is not as heavy than the regular solid collection (190gsm vs 230gsm) but still a very good quality and so perfect for this top.

I selected the Sew Straight and Gather - Girls Legends top to feature this fabric. I tested this pattern over a year ago (see here) and it was time to make another one. I’m intensely jealous and dying to make my own!

My princess is so stylish in this stand collar top. It only took me a couple hours to complete this top from printing to finish. I highly recommend this pattern.

Secondly, the ‘’Nautical Dream’’ pre-order.   I really like the colors of this collection, specially the stripes (not feature in this post)! My latest outfit with The Fabric Geeks received a lot of love from my princess, so I decided to use the same pattern for this top.  I used the Agility Tank* with the overlay from 5 out of 4 patterns. 

I completed the outfit with the Greenstyle Creations Stride Athletic Tight.

Un beau bonjour,

J'ai la chance de continuer mon aventure avec The Fabric Geeks.  J'adore coudre des projects pour m'amuser.  J'ai seulement besoin de choisir un patron que j'aime.

Cette fois-ci, j'ai fait l'essai de la nouvelle collection de "yard dyed stripes" et ''Anchor'' présentement en prévente.

Tout d'abord, le tissu rayé rose et gris est un cotton/lycra.  Il pèse un peu moins que la collection de couleur uni (190gsm vs 230gsm).  C'est quand même de très bonne qualité et parfait pour un chandail d'été.

J'ai choisi un patron de Sew Straight and Gather - Girls Legends pour ce tissu. J'ai testé ce patron il y a déjà plus d'un an (voir ici) et nous l'adorons toujours.  A vrai dire, je suis complètement jalouse et j'en veux un pour moi aussi!

J'adore le style de col.  J'ai complété le projet en quelques heures.  Je recommande fortement ce patron.

Pour poursuivre, la collection en prévente ‘’Nautical Dream’’.   J'adore les couleurs de cette collection, cela fait tellement été.  

J'ai utilisé l'Agility Tank* de 5 out of 4 pattern pour ce chandail.  Une autre belle réussite. J'ai complété l'ensemble avec Greenstyle Creations Stride Athletic Tight.

The Fabric Geeks - Literary Darlings

Good day, I had a lot of fun again with The Fabric Geeks latest preorder Literary Darlings (available until June 12).  I introduced my princess to Anne (not sure why I waited so long). She started to read the book of this little red hair girl.

First up the fabric, this is a Cotton Lycra knit (95% Cotton & 5% lycra 58"/60" wide. 4W stretch, 250-270 gsm.)

For this project, I used the Hip Hop tank* from Love Notions.  This is the second time I used this pattern, see my Finding Dory version here which is unfortunately too small.

I used light woven at the back for style and I wanted to use the rest of the fabric for another project.  I love the details of this panel. For the size of the design, I used the adult size on my tiny 10 year old.

For project #2,  I used the sides of the panel as accent on the Greenstyle Girls Stride and 5 out of 4* Agility Tank.  My princess love this outfit. I have plans for a few more of those two patterns.

Un bon bonjour,  je me suis bien amusé avec la dernière collection Literary Darlings - The Fabric Geeks (disponible en prévente jusqu'au 12 juin).  J'ai fais découvrir à ma princesse l'histoire de cette petit orpheline de l'Ile du Prince Edouard, Anne.

Le premier projet fut la camisole "Hip Hop" de Love Notions*.  Ma princesse adore ce patron.  Le tissu est un coton lycra de très bonne qualité. J'ai utilisé la version adulte du panneau pour ce projet. Avec les restants du panneau, j'ai fait des accents rose sur mon deuxième projet.

Ce deuxième projet est une belle réussite. J'ai utilisé le Girls Stride de Greenstyle et Agility Tank de 5 out of 4*.  Je planifie utilisé ces deux patrons pour un autre projet.
