The Fabric Geeks - Nautical Dream pre-order

I’m lucky enough to continue my adventure with The Fabric Geeks. I’m so happy to sew up projects just for fun. I only need to pick a pattern I love.

This time, I had the chance to try out the new solid collection the yarn dyed stripes and the new pre-order ‘’Nautical Dream’’.

First up, is the yarn dyed stripes pink and charcoal grey. This Cotton/Lycra fabric is not as heavy than the regular solid collection (190gsm vs 230gsm) but still a very good quality and so perfect for this top.

I selected the Sew Straight and Gather - Girls Legends top to feature this fabric. I tested this pattern over a year ago (see here) and it was time to make another one. I’m intensely jealous and dying to make my own!

My princess is so stylish in this stand collar top. It only took me a couple hours to complete this top from printing to finish. I highly recommend this pattern.

Secondly, the ‘’Nautical Dream’’ pre-order.   I really like the colors of this collection, specially the stripes (not feature in this post)! My latest outfit with The Fabric Geeks received a lot of love from my princess, so I decided to use the same pattern for this top.  I used the Agility Tank* with the overlay from 5 out of 4 patterns. 

I completed the outfit with the Greenstyle Creations Stride Athletic Tight.

Un beau bonjour,

J'ai la chance de continuer mon aventure avec The Fabric Geeks.  J'adore coudre des projects pour m'amuser.  J'ai seulement besoin de choisir un patron que j'aime.

Cette fois-ci, j'ai fait l'essai de la nouvelle collection de "yard dyed stripes" et ''Anchor'' présentement en prévente.

Tout d'abord, le tissu rayé rose et gris est un cotton/lycra.  Il pèse un peu moins que la collection de couleur uni (190gsm vs 230gsm).  C'est quand même de très bonne qualité et parfait pour un chandail d'été.

J'ai choisi un patron de Sew Straight and Gather - Girls Legends pour ce tissu. J'ai testé ce patron il y a déjà plus d'un an (voir ici) et nous l'adorons toujours.  A vrai dire, je suis complètement jalouse et j'en veux un pour moi aussi!

J'adore le style de col.  J'ai complété le projet en quelques heures.  Je recommande fortement ce patron.

Pour poursuivre, la collection en prévente ‘’Nautical Dream’’.   J'adore les couleurs de cette collection, cela fait tellement été.  

J'ai utilisé l'Agility Tank* de 5 out of 4 pattern pour ce chandail.  Une autre belle réussite. J'ai complété l'ensemble avec Greenstyle Creations Stride Athletic Tight.

Sew Straigth & Gather - Andromeda

Good day,

I was quite busy last week, I was also part of the testing for the new patterns from Sew Straight & Gather.  The Andromeda Top & dress is available in ladies and girls sizing.

The Andromeda is a draped sleeves top or dress. This is a very easy & quick sew with style.    

 Sew Straight & Gather provided detailed instructions with a full clickable page navigation and URL links to outside resources. I believe one of the best on the PDF pattern market.

The pattern is currently on sale for $5Cdn through the black Friday/thanksgiving weekend.  The full Sew Straight & Gather collection is also on sale.  If you need inspiration you can look back at some of the other patterns I tested: The Café Romper, Legends & Uptown/Downtown Dress. 

Finally, I used bamboo knit for the ladies version and thin sweater knit for the girls’ version.  When I have some free time, I may try another version with the Uptown/Downtown cowl for a more fall/winter style.

Wishing a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend to everyone celebrating this weekend.  In Canada, we will be watching the Grey Cup. (Canadian Football)

j'ai été très occupé la semaine dernière, j'ai testé les deux dernier patrons de Sew Straigth & Gather.

L'Andromeda est disponible en version pour filles et dames. Ce patron est facile et rapide. J'ai testé la version chandail avec bande, mais vous pouvez aussi faire la version robe avec ou sans l'élastique à la taille.

Comme tous les patrons de Sew Straight & Gather, les instructions sont détaillé et comprend nombreux lien pour facilité la lecture.

Les deux patrons sont présentement disponible pour 5$ durant la vente du vendredi fou.  Tous les patrons de Sew Straight & Gather sont en vente.  C'est le temps d'en profiter!  Besoin d'inspiration voici mes projets précédents : Café, Uptown/Downtown & Legends.

J'ai l'intention d'en faire une autre version avec le col du patron Uptown/Downtown pour un style plus automnal.  J'ai utilisé du tricot de bamboo pour ma version dame et j'adore la douceur du tissu. Une autre belle réussite!

Sew Straight and Gather - Café Romper

Today, I have the latest pattern from Sew Straight and Gather – Café.

 

Please note this pattern is an intermediate level pattern and requires a little bit more time to complete.  It took me probably a little bit over 5 hours from printing the pattern to fit pictures. 

This pattern is full of design options:

· Romper pants, shorts or skirt;

· Short sleeves or sleeveless; and

· Optional blind tuck couture detail on the yoke.

I tested the romper skirt with the sleeveless option.  My princess is looking so stylish in this classic style. She already mentioned that she will wear this outfit at school.  I think it means that it is a big hit!

In addition to the design options, you have the following details:

· pockets;

· fabric belt and belt loops; and

· snap or button hidden placket.

Sew Straight and Gather instructions are very detailed with clickable page navigation and URL links to outside resources.  I`m always impressed by the level of detail of Sew Straight and Gather patterns.  Terri spent more than 3 months on perfecting this pattern.

In case you wonder, I have already asked for an adult version of this pattern.   I really need this pattern for myself!

Aujourd'hui, j’ai le dernier patron de Sew Straight and Gather – Café.   

Veuillez noter que ce patron est de niveau intermédiaire et nécessite un peu plus de temps pour voir les résultats. Ce test ma prit un peu plus de 5 heures de travail (de l’impression du patron au résultat final).

 

Le Café comporte plusieurs options :

-          salopette pantalon, short et jupe

-          manches courtes ou sans manche; et

-          détails de faux-pli sur l’empiècement du devant.

 

J’ai testé la jupe salopette avec l’option sans manches.  J’aime ce style classique et je crois que c’est une belle réussite.

 

En plus des options identifiées ci-haut, vous pouvez aussi ajouter les détails suivants :

-          poches ;

-          ceinture et boucles de ceinture en tissu ; et

-          patte de boutonnage cachée pour boutons ou boutons pression.

 

Les instructions sont très détaillées avec navigation dans le document et liens aux ressources externes. Je suis toujours impressionné par le niveau de détails de ses patrons.  Terri a passé plus de 3 mois sur le perfectionnement de ce patron.

En passant, j’ai déjà fait une demande pour une version adulte!

Sew Straight and Gather - Uptown/Downtown

Je suis de retour avec une autre création de Sew Straight and Gather.  Nous avons participé dans le processus de révision du patron pour filles Uptown/Downtown.  Le patron était déjà sur le marché mais le désigner, Terri, voulait l’améliorer! Elle travaille maintenant sur une nouvelle collection de patrons, j’ai hâte de voir ce qu’elle nous prépare.

 

I’m back with another great creation from Sew Straight and Gather. I would like to show you the revised Uptown/Downtown Girls that we had the chance to test.  The pattern was already on the market but the designer, Terri, wanted to improve it! She is now working on a new collection of patterns, I cannot wait to see what she will come up with.

 

Ce patron de niveau débutant-confiant est une autre belle réussite.  Pour le test, nous avons fait la version avec le col, longueur au genou, poches et manches 3/4.

Le patron offre plusieurs options :

-          3 options de longueur de manche (sans manche, ¾  de longueur et toute la longueur)

-          2 longueurs de robe (Maxi et genou)

-          2 finitions de col

-          poches

Avec toutes ces options, vous pouvez créer et personnaliser votre robe à votre propre style.   

 

This pattern is designed for a confident beginner, you can create a custom knit dress within a few hours. The pattern is stylish and so versatile. For the testing, we made the knee length version with cowl, pockets and ¾ length sleeves.  The pattern offers many options:

·         3 sleeve length options (sleeveless, ¾ length and full length)

·         2 dress length (knee or maxi)

·         Neckline options including Cowl option

·         pockets

 

J’ai utilisé un tricot bambou de C&M Textile, j’avais acheté ce tissu pour moi mais apparemment ma princesse a les mêmes goûts que moi! Il me reste un peu de tissu que j’ai l’intention d’utiliser pour me faire un chandail Legends de la collection Sew Straight and Gather.

I used knit bamboo from C&M Textile. I got this fabric for me but someone else has similar taste!.  I have a little bit of left over, I’m hoping to be able to make myself a Legends tops from the same Sew Straight and Gather collection.

 

Ce qui m’impressionne le plus est la qualité de la mise en page des instructions.  Terry a vraiment poussé au maximum les ressources électroniques.  La navigation entre les instructions est fait par clic sur des liens entre les sections et les ressources externes.  Je recommande fortement de suivre les instructions avec votre tablette, ce qui facilite grandement la compréhension et vous pouvez profiter au maximum de ces fonctionnalités.

 

This  was another great pattern to work with.  I was really impressed by the layout of the pattern instructions.  The file includes clickable page navigation and URL links to outside resources.  You are best to use your tablet or laptop to follow along.

Sew Straight and Gather - Legends

Aujourd'hui, j'aimerais vous présenté une désigner canadienne Sew Straight and Gather.

I would like today to introduce you to a Canadian designer Sew Straight and Gather. 

Il y a déjà quelques mois que nous avons eu la chance de tester ce chandail Legends pour fille.  J'ai fais deux versions du chandail, suivant une erreur de ma part.  J'ai découper la mauvaise version pour le test.  Pas de plaintes du côté de ma princesse, elle adore les chandails !

Back in February, I had the chance to test the Legends top for girl which was a big hit with my daughter.  We made two versions during the testing period, mainly because I messed up.  I made the wrong version that I was supposed to make for the testing.  But no regrets here, the princess is quite happy with both tops! 

Cette première version est fait en tricot bamboo de C&M Textile et la deuxième version est fait avec le même tricot bamboo et un tricot de L'Oiseau Fabrics.  Ce chandail est complètement doublé, ce qui donne une belle finition.

This version was made with only bamboo knit from C&M textile and the second version was made with the same bamboo knit and knit from L’Oiseau Fabrics.  The tank is fully lined which give the clean finish I am such of big fan of. 

Le patron inclus deux options de chandail et robe. Il y a aussi une option sans manche, manches courtes et longues. Ce patron est de niveau intermediaire, la partie la plus difficile est probablement le col.  Mais si vous allez lentement et faites une bonne lecture des intructions avant de débuter, vous allez bien vous en sortir.  Il a aussi un video disponible.

The pattern offers many options including two top and dress options but also sleeveless, short and long sleeve options .  The legend top is a little tricky to make (intermediate sewing pattern) but when you go slowly and you read the instructions before you start,  you will end up with great results.  Following the testing the designer provided tutorial videos that you can find at the following link.

J'ai acheté la version pour femme et avec l'arrivée officielle du printemps, j'espere faire ma propre version de l'option sans manche bientôt !

I bought the women version and cannot wait to make my own tank version of this pattern. 

Dernièrement, j'ai eu la chance de tester un autre patron de la collection de Sew Straight and Gather. Mais ceci fera parti d'une autre publication !
